Orthodox Syrian Sunday school Assocation of the East (OSSAE)
Start children off on how they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it. Proverb 22:6
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." St. Matthew 19:14
In this complex and constantly evolving world, where competing values and ethical dilemmas challenge us, it is crucial to impart the teachings of Jesus and the faith of our church to our children.
Sunday School isn't just about imparting theological knowledge; it's a sanctuary where young minds are molded, values are instilled, and character is honed.
Our primary aim is to instill in them a deeper understanding of God, Orthodoxy, and the spiritual values of the Church. We believe that the teachings of our faith provide a timeless roadmap for cultivating kindness, empathy, and righteousness. We focus on encouraging active participation in church activities, promoting Bible study, and providing a more profound understanding of the Sacraments and faith; thus, our Sunday School serves as a beacon of light, guiding our youth toward spiritual enlightenment and moral excellence.
Join us on this transformative journey as we nurture not just devout Christians but compassionate, responsible citizens of the world grounded in the timeless wisdom of our Orthodox tradition. Together, let us build a future where goodness reigns supreme, one Sunday School lesson at a time.
Welcome to the Sunday School page of St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Germany, a vibrant Parish of the UK-Europe & Africa Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Here, in the landscapes of Germany, we nurture the spiritual growth of our community, fostering a deep connection to our faith and heritage.
About Us
St Thomas Indian Orthodox Church Germany has taken a significant step in promoting the spiritual growth of children by launching an online Sunday School program in 2020. The program is intended to cater to the needs of children living in Germany and other places in mainland Europe, providing them an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in the faith of the Church. The program has been a resounding success, with
- 97 regular students enrolled in classes ranging from Pre-KG to Class 11.
- 30 dedicated teachers who volunteer their time and expertise.
Curriculum
Since the beginning, our Sunday school has been using the curriculum recommended by the Diocese of the UK-Europe and Africa of the Malankara Orthodox Church. Additionally, we hold monthly group sessions on topics about faith and sacraments to help our students better understand Orthodox beliefs and traditions. This year, we've developed an offline curriculum that includes prayers and hymns for conducting sessions at each location where our Holy Qurbana is held.
Schedule
Our classes are conducted online. The schedule for online classes is determined collaboratively by teachers, parents, and students. We utilize modern teaching tools and have qualified teachers.
