Instructions to fill the Membership Form
St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Germany e.V. is the official parish of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Germany, under the Diocese of UK–Europe & Africa. We are constituted under the 1934 Constitution of the Malankara Sabha and registered as a non-profit organisation (e.V.) in the Vereinsregister of the Amtsgericht Essen (VR 6484), operating within the legal framework of both Church and State.
1. Read the Constitution
Before proceeding with your membership application, please read:
- The Satzung of St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Germany e. V.
- The 1934 Constitution of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
2. Complete the Application Form
Fill in the application form digitally, then print or export it as a PDF and add your signature.
3. Submit a Letter of No Objection / Transfer Certificate
You must also submit a Letter of No Objection (or Transfer Certificate) from your home Parish in India.
- This confirms that you are already a member of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
- It also informs your home Parish that you are taking temporary membership here in Germany.
- You can obtain this letter from the Vicar of your home Parish (request the Vicar to issue a letter/transfer certificate for temporary membership here).
- A scanned copy of the certificate is sufficient for our records.

4. Mandatory Fields & Data Protection
All fields marked with * are mandatory. You must agree to all terms stated below the form and provide the necessary consents. Your data will be handled strictly in accordance with GDPR regulations.
5. Complete Submission Requirements
An application will be considered complete only when:
- All required fields are filled in,
- The form is signed, and
- The letter of No Objection or Transfer Certificate is submitted with it.
6. Membership Fee
- Annual Subscription Fee: €300 (per membership), regardless of the month of enrolment.
7. Catholicate Day & Diocesan Day Cover Collections
- Each membership shall contribute €5 each towards Catholicate Day and Diocesan Day collections annually.
8. Cancellation Policy:
- Membership Fee Obligation: The membership fee for the entire financial year must be paid, even if a cancellation is requested midway through the year.
- Cancellation Procedure: To cancel membership, a written application must be submitted to the Vicar (Vorsitzender), either by post or email. All outstanding dues must be cleared, and such clearance must be confirmed by the Trustee (Schatzmeister).
- Advance Notice for Next Year: Requests to cancel membership for the next financial year must be submitted at least three months prior to the start of that year.
